Romantic Memories: The Enchanted Cottage

Some of my best memories come from classic romantic movies. Many of them were introduced to me as a child and a teen, when my family rented movies from the local the-enchanted-cottage-sad-couplevideo rental (No Netflix in those days!) I saw other classics in my twenties when we purchased a Dish TV service. Dish had the wonderful Turner Classic Movies channel in their lineup. That’s where I first saw The Enchanted Cottage.

The Enchanted Cottage is a wonderful film starring Robert Young and Dorothy McGuire. It was filmed in 1945 and directed by John Cromwell.

The movie begins with Major John Hillgrove, a blind pianist. He is having a party at his house and is telling the story of  Laura Pennington.
